About

Cale is a singer-songwriter based in Queens, NY. Getting his start as the frontman and principal songwriter of Chicago indie-rock band Case, Cale has penned songs like “Days on a Wire”, “Would It Be Enough”, and “Hello, Chicago” that seamlessly merge indie, folk, and country-rock.

On his debut solo album, Passenger (2024), Cale sings of love, heartbreak, and everyday life with a sense of curiosity and wonder. Rather than having all the answers, Cale’s writing lives inside of questions—as if in asking them, something ‘true’ about the world might reveal itself. Whether it be the twangy lead-single, “One Less Night Alone” or retro rock cuts like “American Superstars” and “Whiskey Blues”, Cale’s songwriting displays a sharp ability to tether the particular to the universal, and the intimate to the collective.

I am avaialble to work as a songwriter and/or co-writer on your next project. Please send me an email and let me know how I might be able to help.

Poem(s)

I’ve Learned to Love You in the Evening

I’ve learned to love you in the evening,
as the traveler learns to love the shaded meadow

Like him, I wrestle the sun for its energy,
a million beams I offer you

The darkening of light from gold to gray,
which suits your flushed cheek

I could watch this motion forever,
the day breaking upon us

You are plentiful in ways I had not imagined,
in ways I imagined were not mine to love

Oh how the world takes to you,
Oh how I take to you

In my meadow, you are a butterfly
of open flutters

Not mine or the earth’s,
but of an ancient rythm

Your touch sinks through me
as if I were empty

As if I were not a man, or even skin or bones,
but a cacoon you once had use for

A canister for your kisses,
I am content to be

There is little more to this world
than you in the evening
